Scientists that don't play by the rules...

I was really struggling with physics and general life at university. Sam listened to my problems, offered practical steps forward and made the most difficult topics seem far easier. I’d recommend him as a tutor to anyone!

Before I started having lessons with Sam, I had pretty much accepted that I would get 4s and 5s in my GCSE science exams, but Sam wasn’t having that! He showed me that science lessons don’t need to be slow and dull. In the end, I got 8s and a 9. I couldn’t believe it!

Ok, I guess he’s pretty good if he helped me get an 8 in maths. I honestly thought I was going to get a 3 at best! I still hate maths though!

Hello there! Sam Gregson here!

When I was studying science (biology, physics, chemistry) and maths at school and university, things didn’t always come easily. Sometimes, I thought that I’d never understand a particular - seemingly complicated - topic or mathematical procedure.

In those difficult times, it was the mentoring, encouragement and patience of my teachers and peers that helped me to keep going and finally realise my dream of studying particle physics at the Large Hadron Collider and explaining science to anyone that would listen!

I have helped students recover from failed exams, adapt to a move to university, decide what topics they wish to study and hit their required results.

Every student is different. Some just need to grind questions. Some need encouragement and a friend. Some need lessons to be more engaging and fun in order to learn effectively. I always tailor lessons and follow up work to the individual needs and personality of the student and, so far, I have had excellent results.

Example online tutoring session.

In this session, I help a student understand trigonometric equations and then complete a tough example.

Because I love, but initially struggled to get to grips with maths and science, I find that I can accurately and efficiently identify the problems that students are suffering with and help them to reach their full potential.

I also love repaying the debt owed to the mentors and teachers that helped me!

I have been a tutor in maths, physics, chemistry (to university level) and biology (to GCSE level) for the last 3 years and have a thorough grasp of all relevant UK (and some foreign) curricula.

I offer a range of tutoring, mentoring and educational services both live and online.

Online sessions are conducted via online whiteboard and digital pen, facilitating full two-way interactivity - just like a live 1-to-1 lesson. An example online session is recorded in the video to the left <- .

Prices are available on demand. If you would like to book an introductory session, please use the contact form.

The first session is free for new clients to ensure that you are completely satisfied and comfortable with me and my style.
